Boryspil in Ukraine UKRAINE ukraine. boryspil Informations and links Boryspil Map Boryspil Photos Boryspil Population on 05-Dec-01 : 53975 ------------------------------- Boryspil (Ukrainian: ?????????, Boryspil’; Russian: ?????????, Borispol’) is a city in northern Ukraine, situated in the left-bank part of the Kiev Oblast, close to the capital city of Kiev. It is also a center of Boryspil Raion. The city has 53,400 inhabitants (2004). Although known as a settlement since at least 1154 and known under the modern name since 1590, it was not until 1956 that the place was received a city status. Currently the town is home to the country's main airport, Boryspil International Airport (international code KBP) and minor industry. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.) Ukraine was the center of the first Slavic state, Kievan Rus, which during the 10th and 11th centuries was the largest and most powerful state in Europe. Weakened by internecine quarrels and Mongol invasions, Kievan Rus was incorporated into the Grand Duc.
