It has a total area of 12,668.416 sq.kms. or about, 7,917,760 rai. Phetchabun, an ancient city with several interesting and important places such as Wat Mahathat and Si Thep Historical Park, has always proposed throughout her history. At present, it is famous for the fertile land for cultivation. The renowned fruit is sweet tamarind. Besides, there are various historical and natural attractions as we know from the motto of the province: Sweet Tamarind City, Nam Nao National Park, Si Thep Ancient City, Khao Kho Commemoration, Poh Khun Pha Muang City. The area is a plain surrounded by the hills. The main river passing through the province is Pasak River. Phetchabun has 3 seasons: hot season, rainy season and cold season. A unified Thai kingdom was established in the mid-14th century. Known as Siam until 1939, Thailand is the only Southeast Asian country never to have been taken over by a European power. A bloodless revolution in 1932 led to a constitutional monarchy. In alliance with Japan during World War II, Thailand became a US ally following the conflict.
