Voskopoja in Albania ALBANIE albania. voskopoja Informations and links Voskopoja Map Voskopoja Photos Voskopoja ------------------------------- Voskopojë (Albanian with definite article Voskopoja; Aromanian: Moscopole; Aromanian with definite article Moscopolea; Greek: ??????????, Moscopolis or Moschopolis; Serbian: Moskopolje;) is a small village currently in south-eastern Albania. During its history, it used to be a cultural and commercial center of the Aromanians (Vlachs). Geography Voskopoja is located at a distance of 21 km from Korçë, in the Mountains of south-eastern Albania, at an altitude of 1160 meters. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.) Between 1990 and 1992 Albania ended 46 years of xenophobic Communist rule and established a multiparty democracy. The transition has proven difficult as successive governments have tried to deal with high unemployment, widespread corruption, a dilapidated infrastructure, powerful organized crime networks with links to high government officials, and disruptive political opponents. International observers judged parliamentary elections in 2001 to be acceptable and a step toward democratic development, but identified serious deficiencies.
